Tree Planting! 🌳

Photo taken by my teacher!

This year, my grade went tree planting for community service and I am proud to say that we planted over 30 trees! We went to plant more trees in order to make extra shade for the park. My group (above) planted a tree named Roberta Hornbeam because she is a Hornbeam tree! Since we went to Hillside Park to plant all these trees, I wanted to learn about it, and I found some super cool information!

Hillside Park is super old and in 1922 Hillside Park School was built there! This was super cool because it was the first high school in the area to allow black students to attend! Also in 1922 there was a club on the other side of the park called the Algonquin Club! The Algonquin Club was a great community for black residents in the area. Not only did the Algonquin Club host tennis matches and tournaments for black athletes across the nation, but it was also a great meeting place. When 1964 rolled around, the Algonquin Club had been broken up and had turned into a similar building as the W.D. Hill Recreation Center which has sadly burned down as of 1968. This Park has so much cool information and I wish I knew more!

Planting trees was SO much more fun than I ever thought it could have been! I totally recommend planting a tree; whether it is in your backyard or at a local park, you will not only have so much fun, but you will also have the satisfaction of helping your community by planting more trees.

Have you ever planted a tree before? If so, how did you like it? And if you haven’t planted one, do you want to plant a tree now? Comment on this blog to tell me!

Unicorns Are Real!!!

Have you ever seen a live unicorn? Of course not! They don’t exist! Or do they…?

You may have heard that unicorns are mythical creatures and do not really exist, but that is wrong! The truth is that unicorns are critically endangered animals; there are only 60 left in the world, and they are all being held in a government lab. You have never heard of this because the government could get in big trouble for kidnapping young unicorns. Why are they endangered, you might ask? Unicorns are endangered because of the food that they eat! Basically, unicorns eat fairies, fairies eat pixie dust (which they can only get by eating a pixie), and pixies eat unicorns! The full circle of life! (Kind of). Just some background information, unicorns are immortal, impenetrable beings that can only die if a pixie eats them or if a pixie’s stomach acid gets on them. Pixies have razor-sharp teeth that can bite through unicorns, and the only way that the unicorn actually dies is by being dissolved in the pixie’s stomach acid. So what is the government doing with the unicorns? Great question! The government is capturing pixies and cutting them in half to empty out their stomach acids onto a unicorn! But why does the government want to kill the unicorns in the first place? Great question once again. Nobody knows this (but me, obviously), but unicorns actually create 99.99% of all greenhouse gases. That’s why they’re killing them! But this also cuts down the pixie population, which is an even BIGGER problem! Nobody knows this (but me), but pixies are actually the only pollinators in the world! All of the bees and butterflies come out during the day and pretend to pollinate! Then, at night, all of the pixies come and ACTUALLY pollinate! How can I help with this? Incredible question! You just need to spread awareness about this problem, and maybe the government will stop!

Snow Ice Cream!!!

Photo taken by me!

There is so much snow outside, and I’m so happy! This snow is really fluffy, so I’ve been making snow angels and throwing ginormous snowballs at my family!

On the internet, I have been seeing videos where people make ice cream outside in the snow, so my sister and I decided to try! To make the ice cream, you will need salt, a metal bowl, heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, a whisk, vanilla extract, and whatever toppings you want! Here is the basic recipe:

  1. Sprinkle a good amount of salt on the snow and then press the bowl into the salted snow. (The salt will help it freeze faster!)
  2. Pour however much heavy whipping cream you want. You might want to pour a lot because that is the main ingredient of your ice cream.
  3. Pour in just a splash of vanilla extract.
  4. Dump in some powdered sugar. It should be about ⅓ of the amount of the whipping cream that you dumped in. It’s okay if it’s not perfect!
  5. Mix with your whisk a lot, you can take breaks to play in the snow too! WARNING: This could take 10 minutes!
  6. Keep mixing until it is the consistency that you want. (It may never get completely the same texture as ice cream.)
  7. Once you have the right consistency, dump in whatever add-ins you want. I added M&Ms and chocolate chips
  8. Then all you have left to do is enjoy!

The Outsiders Review

*WARNING! THIS SHOW IS NOT FOR KIDS!*

I want to recommend an amazing show called The Outsiders! The Outsiders is about a teen named Ponyboy Curtis and his family and friends. In the town that Ponyboy lives in, there are 2 sides: the Socs (so-shehs) and the Greasers. The Greasers own the more run-down side of town while the Socs own the high-end side.

This show is definitely not for kids under the age of 10 because there is a lot of violence! This show is… heavy, but I love it so much! The songs and acting are incredible! (Definitely a Tony-worthy performance!)

This show actually started out as a book, so if you are not into musicals that much, I would definitely recommend The Outsiders book! I haven’t personally read the book, but I have heard that it is incredible!!!

I would rate The Outsiders 5/5 stars because I never got bored, and it was like my eyes were glued to the stage when I watched it! If you have seen the musical or read the book, please comment on either what your favorite part was or who your favorite character is and why! No spoilers! I hope you love The Outsiders as much as I!

A Must Read Book

The Inheritance Games

By Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Have you ever had your jaw drop to the floor while reading a book? Me neither! Until I read The Inheritance Games!

This book is about a teenage girl named Avery Kylie Grambs who is not living the best life. She lives with her sister and is barely getting by until the mysterious Hawthorne brothers walk into her life. Then, a billionaire named Tobias Hawthorne passed away. Instead of leaving his fortune to his four grandsons, he leaves everything, from his billions of dollars to his multi-billion dollar mansion, to Avery, a complete stranger. I guess you could say that he took A very risKy Gamble. But why?

This book is full of mystery and adrenaline, and it has me so excited for what is going to happen in the next chapter! This book has made me so shocked and surprised so many times, and I cannot wait to read the other books in the series. This book has 91 chapters, so it seems a little bit intimidating, but all of the chapters are very short, so it makes the book seem like it is just flying by!

I would rate this book a 6 out of 5 stars because I feel excitement, happiness, sadness, shock, and fear all in the same book! The Inheritance Games might be my favorite book that I have ever read, and I hope it is yours too!

If you have read The Inheritance Games, comment on what your favorite part was! If you haven’t read it, READ IT RIGHT NOW!!!
